Some VFS checklists use the phrase “notarized copy.” North Carolina notaries are not authorized to certify a photocopy as a true copy. Bring the exact current VFS instruction and any affidavit, declaration, or signature page that must be notarized so the commissioned notary can perform only an act permitted by North Carolina law.

How much does notarization cost?
Our in-store fee is $10 per notarized principal signature. North Carolina law currently permits a maximum fee of $10 per notarized principal signature for acknowledgments, jurats, verifications, or proofs. This is our store fee; it is not a tax or payment collected by the State.
Can you provide a witness?
A witness may be available for $5 per witness signature when your document requires one. This is a separate store witness-service charge, not a North Carolina notary fee. Call ahead if you need a witness so availability can be confirmed.
Can a North Carolina notary certify a true copy?
No. A North Carolina notary is not authorized to certify a document as a true copy. Depending on the document, you may need to obtain a certified copy from the issuing agency or use another permitted process.
Can you notarize documents for an Indian passport renewal?
We can perform eligible North Carolina notarizations for signatures and affidavits used with Indian passport renewal paperwork. VFS checklists can require notarized affidavits and supporting documents, but requirements vary by application. Bring the current VFS checklist and complete paperwork. A North Carolina notary cannot simply certify a photocopy as a true copy.
Can you notarize OCI application documents?
Yes, when the OCI checklist calls for an eligible notarized signature or affidavit. Current VFS OCI checklists can require a notarized affidavit in lieu of originals and, in some situations, notarized undertakings. Bring the current checklist and forms so the notary can review the requested act.
Can you notarize a power of attorney for use in India?
We can notarize an eligible signature on a completed power-of-attorney document when North Carolina requirements are met. We do not draft the POA or decide what legal language you need. Requirements after notarization, including any apostille, consular attestation, witness, or registration steps, should be confirmed with the receiving authority or current Indian consular guidance.
Can I print, copy, fax, or ship the document after notarization?
Yes. Printing, copying, faxing, and shipping services are available at the same location, subject to the store’s current service availability and pricing.
